Philosophy

Preserve a heritage, ignite the dream.

We believe in carefully preserving a heritage while maintaining a dynamic relationship with modernity. Blending tradition and innovation, telling the Italian art of living in every single gesture. The Principato di Parrano is a living destination, where history, nature, wellbeing and hospitality intertwine into an authentic experience.

“For centuries the castle has been a place of relationships at the highest level, the manifesto of la dolce vita.”
History of the Principato
The History

One thousand years, one story.

The first document mentioning Parrano dates back to 1118. From the bishops of Orvieto to the Bulgarelli, from the Marescotti family to Vittorio Valletta — historic president of Fiat — the castle has been for a millennium the buen retiro of the most powerful Italian families.

In 1733 Pope Clement XII Orsini elevates Parrano to an independent Principality. Since then the title belongs to whoever is, pro tempore, its lord. A saga weaving together popes, agronomists and industrial captains.

The Village

The Village of Parrano.

Parrano is a small but evocative medieval village, a treasure chest of history, nature and traditions, intrinsically linked to the castle that has dominated and protected it for centuries. The village rises on the edge of a steep cliff where time seems to have stood still. Its excellent position made it a lookout and defensive post, and today it appears as a small architectural jewel set in the green of the woods.

Up here, in a splendid and diverse area of cultivated fields, olive groves and vineyards, a population of just under five hundred inhabitants proudly guards its village and its land, preserving its appearance and traditions. Elements that make it an ideal destination for those who love peace and wellbeing.
